WiFi Connected But No Internet? Quick Fixes

Connected to WiFi but can’t load a page? Here is how to diagnose if the problem is your computer, your router, or your ISP.

It's a confusing status message: "Connected, No Internet." Your computer talks to the router, but the router isn't talking to the world.

Here is how to isolate the issue.

1. Is it Just You?

Check your phone or a colleague's computer.

  • Everyone is down: The problem is the Router, Modem, or ISP.
  • Only you are down: The problem is your computer's settings.

2. Restart the Modem/Router

This fixes 90% of home/small office internet outages.

  • Unplug the power from both the modem and router.
  • Wait one full minute.
  • Plug in the modem first (wait for lights to stabilize).
  • Plug in the router second.

3. "Forget" the Network

Sometimes connection profiles get corrupted.

  • Windows: Settings > Network & Internet > WiFi > Manage Known Networks > "Forget" your network. Then reconnect and re-enter the password.
  • Mac: System Settings > WiFi > Details on your network > "Forget This Network".

4. DNS Issues

If you can ping a Google IP address (8.8.8.8) but can't load google.com, you have a DNS resolution error.

  • Fix: Open Command Prompt and type ipconfig /flushdns.
  • Advanced: Try setting your DNS manually to Google (8.8.8.8) or Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) in your adapter settings.

5. Check for VPNs

If you use a business VPN or privacy software, it might be stuck trying to connect, blocking all other traffic. Disconnect your VPN client completely to test.

Enterprise-Grade Reliability

Home routers are designed for Netflix. Business networks are designed for revenue. At ACE IT Solutions, we deploy Managed Access Points (APs) and Software-Defined Networking.

  • Self-Healing Mesh: If one AP fails, the others boost their signal to fill the gap.
  • Guest Separation: Keep visitors off your sensitive internal server network.
  • Seamless Roaming: Walk from the warehouse to the boardroom without your video call dropping.

"No Internet" is not an option for a modern business. Build a network that stays up.
